When I lived in Southern California, I would read the Monday papers and see at least a dozen people die each weekend in random, senseless shootings.  Sadly, this seems to be one of those cases.  It sounds like a possible gang member or at least a wannabe may be responsible.

A longtime street vendor who sold tamales in a Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles was fatally shot in an apparent robbery attempt, and police are asking anyone with information to contact detectives.

Cosme Gonzalez, 46, was found on the sidewalk in the 300 block of Witmer Street with a gunshot wound to  the chest. He died during surgery at a local hospital, police said.

Police said the gunman demanded money and when Gonzalez refused to comply, he was shot. After the shooting, the assailant — described as a man in his 20s, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and about 155 pounds, with a shaved head — was seen running west between buildings…

Wow, look at that lazy eye of hers.  Not hard to guess what was on her mind.  It is shameful to note that if the sexes of the victims and perpetrator were reversed, I bet the sentence would be a lot harsher than just 15 months.  It is always helpful when a perp films herself in the act of committing a crime.

A HOUSEWIFE was jailed yesterday for having sex with two schoolboys aged just 12 and 14.

 

Emily Smith, 37, bedded one of the lads almost daily and allowed him to film an intimate act on his mobile phone.

 

Smith used to allow youngsters into her home to play on her computer, a court heard.

 

But while her partner was out she had sex with two of them.

 

Prosecutor Matthew Corbett-Jones said: “The offences came to light when one boy confided in his father what had been going on.

 

Charges

 

“Police found a text message from her which said, ‘Hi sexy’ and went into detail about the intimate acts she wanted to perform on one of them.”

 

Smith, of Wrexham, North Wales, admitted six charges of sexual activity with children.

 

Judge John Rogers jailed her for 15 months at Mold Crown Court, saying only an immediate prison sentence was appropriate…

If you are walking alone at 4 a.m. and someone insults you, just keep walking.  Do not, repeat, do not get into an altercation with anyone alone in the pre-dawn darkness.  The horrifying acts of humanity know no bounds.

The 58-year-old hospital cleaner was walking to work when got into the dispute with another man in Belgravia.

The man then produced a container and threw a liquid into the victim’s face, leaving him blinded and in pain, police said.

The attack happened at 3.45am on Wednesday at the junction of Cambridge Street and Clarendon Street in one of the plushest parts of London.

Police were called by a resident who heard the victim shouting for help and saw him staggering along Cambridge Street, bumping into parked cars.

The victim was taken to a specialist hospital where he is receiving treatment for burns to his face.

Doctors believe the injuries were caused by some form of acid.

Early indications are that he will lose his sight.

Det Sgt Darren Nayler, from the Westminster Serious Violence Unit, described the attack as particularly vicious.

He said: “The suspect used the acid to deliberately injure the victim and the fact that he was carrying it around in his pocket in the first place suggests that he intended all along to use it to cause harm.

“The area around Belgravia is one of the safest in the borough and it is the first time we have seen an attack of this nature anywhere in Westminster.”

The attacker is described as a dark-skinned male, wearing a hooded top possibly with writing across the front. His face was partially covered by a scarf…

This is just plain gross.  This guy is one of those popular neighborhood types.  He used alcohol to ply his victim.  Look at his picture.  Do you think any 15 year old girl in her right mind would willingly sleep with this guy???  I suspect this isn’t his first time, either.

A Bloomfield man faces statutory rape charges.

Charles Glass, 66, is accused of having sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl. 

Investigators are also combing through at least two computers and other items seized from his home.  

A detective with the Dexter Police Department has been called in to help Bloomfield Police. He specializes in things like child sex crimes and computer crimes.

The mother of the 15 year old fears more victims might be out there, so she’s ready to talk.

“It’s hard having to imagine your kid going through this.” 

Heartland News agreed to conceal the identity of victim’s mother to protect her daughter.  It has only been a week since the Bloomfield woman says her 15 year old daughter shared her story.

“She broke down and cried, we couldn’t get her to quit crying. She broke down and told us.”

It started months ago as the local mother says her daughter needed some help with Algebra.

“He said ’I can help her with that.’”

She says Charles Glass would come to her place of work and tutor her daughter.

“Apparently he was getting in to her head and making her believe things that a 66 year old should not make a 15 year old believe.”

According to court records, Charles Glass would also contact his victim on line using “Bebo”, a popular social networking site like Facebook.  The girl’s mom says Glass also wrote her daughter hand written notes.

“He made her believe he loved her.  He gave her jewelry.”

She says he took it too far once in January and once about a week ago.

“He picked her up from school and told her if she didn’t go with him he would hurt her really bad.”

According to the child’s family the girl’s father dropped her off at school, but she didn’t go. Instead they claim Mr. Glass used the girl’s cell phone and called the school, pretending to be her father…saying she was sick.  Both times, he allegedly took her to Lake Wappapello providing her with alcohol. 

On the second trip her mom says, “He had sexual intercourse with my daughter.  You can’t take a kid from school without parents’ consent and take them and rape them.  You can’t do that.  He’s an old man and she’s a young girl…”

This is pretty horrible.  Anyone who could do this to a little dog could just as easily do this to a little child.  No mention of a motive or a possible sentence.

Assault victim Baby Chloe.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in Oakland for allegedly breaking both front legs of a 4-month-old Pomeranian puppy named Baby Chloe, an Oakland Animal Services director said today.

Kem Eap was arrested Feb. 20 on two felony counts of animal abuse after an anonymous caller told Oakland police that same morning about an injured puppy at a home in the 2000 block of Fifth Avenue, according to Oakland Animal Services Director Adam Parascandola.

Police and animal control officers arrived and found the dog hiding under a television set and unable to use her front legs because of an incident that allegedly occurred two days earlier.

Baby Chloe had extensive surgery Wednesday to repair her fractured legs, according to Parascandola, who said the surgery cost more than $4,000.

Parascandola said the dog “just started using the legs a little bit today and they expect that she’ll make a full recovery…”
