For every story of people volunteering to help poor kids, there is a guy like David Santuomo to help balance out the world.  David is a firefighter who was planning to go on a cruise.  Firefighters tend to be magnets for women so no doubt this guy was planning to get his groove on.  Only one problem: what to do with his two dogs, recently adopted from a local humane society.  The solution was obvious to this brave civil servant who spends his days risking his life in service of the citizens of Columbus – execute them.  That’s right, brave fireman David Santuomo placed plastic on the floor of his basement, tethered his dogs to a pipe and shot them with a rifle affixed with a home made silencer – a federal offense.  You can read more of this odious creature at the link below.

A Columbus firefighter admits that he took his two dogs to the basement, tied them up and blasted them with a rifle so he and a girlfriend could vacation without paying to board the animals.

“He said chunks of concrete were flying everywhere,” Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Heather Robinson said.

“I think it was the thrill of the kill for him. He has shown no remorse for this.”

Firefighter David P. Santuomo, 43, pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of animal cruelty and one count of possession of a criminal tool — for taping a 2-liter plastic bottle onto the gun as a makeshift silencer.

He was convicted of “needlessly killing … a companion animal” on Dec. 3, according to the charges filed 10 minutes before the hearing in Municipal Court. One dog was shot six times in the head.

Santuomo, who did not give a statement in court, will spend 90 days in jail, pay $4,500 to cover the cost of his investigation and serve five years’ probation, Judge Harland H. Hale ruled…

Most everyone who follows crime knows that a lot of serial killers start out torturing animals.  Then they move on to humans.  This is how Dahmer got his start.  I have no doubt that is the trajectory of this smarmy douche bag, Tyler Weinman.  His goofy smile belies the horror for which he is responsible.  I feel especially bad for the owners of the many pets this guy killed.  For some people, their pets are like their children.  Let’s hope this guy gets a good, long sentence followed by decades of probation.

The soft, gentle face of a serial killer?

A teenager faces charges in a gruesome string of cat mutilations and killings that have horrified his neighbors and shaken animal lovers in two South Florida communities.Tyler Hayes Weinman, 18, was charged Sunday with 19 counts each of animal cruelty and improperly disposing of an animal body and four counts of burglary related to the deaths.

In the past month, residents in the Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay neighborhoods have reported finding the bodies of more than two dozen cats. Police said some were likely killed by dogs. Some were missing fur—neighbors said some had been skinned—and appeared to have been cut with a sharp, straight instrument, police said…

Add this sub-human beast to list of budding serial killers laying latent in society.  Not surprisingly, she has a history of crime and abuse.  In fact, she was on probation from a similar crime which she laughed off as a joke.  That was her excuse for this crime as well: it was a joke.  I can only hope someone shoves her in an oven a laughs it off as a joke.

The teen accused in a Bronx kitty killing was busted last year in the armed dog-napping of a teacup Yorkie, police said.

Cheyenne Cherry’s boyfriend snatched the pooch from a woman in a Bronx park last June after holding a BB gun to her forehead, police said.

Days later, Cherry, 17, had the nerve to send friends to show up with the dog when a $500 reward was posted, the pooch’s owner said. “She’s evil,” Johan Castro, 23, said.

Despite her June 2008 arrest for larceny and extortion, along with two other busts, Cherry was released without bail after being charged with letting a friend’s kitten die inside a 200-degree oven.

“They wonder why this little girl doesn’t learn right from wrong,” Castro said. “If she’s willing to kill a cat and steal my dog, what else will she do? She thinks she can beat the system…”

What has happened in this country that hungry people have to resort to this type of behavior?  Maybe these two knuckleheads were too stupid to go to a local church or homeless shelter.

This calf wasn't fast enough.

Two unemployed, hungry men stole a calf from a neighbor’s barn, shot it with an arrow and slit its throat before roasting its meat, police said. David Lochner, 21, and Timothy Welch, 18, were camping outside Palmyra, 20 miles southeast of Rochester, several weeks ago when a dairy farmer reported his calf missing, said State Police Investigator John Stubbe.

Authorities found a bloody bow and remains near the barn and in a river.

The two men first said they had shot a deer. But Stubbe said authorities later determined that the two had walked from their campsite to Brandon Hoad’s barn and broken in.

The dairy farmer said the two were staying with someone who worked for him but knew nothing about the disappearance of the nearly 2-month-old female calf, named Emmy.

Stubbe said the two “decided they wanted something to eat,” led the calf out of the barn, shot it with arrows and cut its throat.

The two gutted the animal and sliced off steaks, leaving the carcass behind, the investigator said…

Rene Paul Desselle couldn't tell the difference between a cat and a leopard.

Ever since Raja arrived by airplane from California in late 2007, Linda Authement and her daughter, Jaylin, had marveled at the intelligence of the rare $3,500 Savannah cat they had saved for years to buy. It could fetch, retrieve and even open the door to their Violet home with its paws.

Two weeks ago, the clever feline escaped. And soon after, Linda Authement received a telephone call that sent chills racing down her spine.

It was a neighbor who had seen a reward sign for her missing spotted cat, she said, and he let on that he shot at it while grilling outside the night of April 18.

“He didn’t tell me he shot the cat, he said he shot at the cat,” Authement recalled. “That’s when I frantically told him, ‘You didn’t shoot the cat? Please tell me you didn’t shoot the cat.’ And he said, ‘I missed.’”

She raced to the home of the caller, Rene Paul Desselle, who lived two doors down from her. He told her he had seen the skinny, leopard-like cat come near him and was worried it was a wild animal that might harm his dog…
