Man Arrested for Rape

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

It’s not clear from the article if these two knew each other or not.   But it IS refreshing to know that some counties still use black and white striped jumpsuits for their prisoners as though it is 1935.  Hopefully, they will have this guy breaking rocks for 30 years.

Authorities say a Salisbury man is behind bars in connection with an attempted murder and rape that put a woman in the hospital.

Just before 7 a.m. Saturday, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office received a call about people yelling on Farmers Market Lane. Deputies, along with Maryland State Police troopers and officers from the Fruitland and Salisbury police departments, responded and located the victim on the side on the road. Police say the victim was in and out of consciousness. Salisbury EMS responded and transported the victim to Peninsula Regional Medical Center. She was later transferred to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where she is listed in critical condition.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old William Edward Burton of Salisbury, fled the scene but was captured a short time later, according to investigators…

Sex Attack Trial Goes to Jury

Friday, May 29th, 2009

It sounds like the police found an orgy of evidence leading to the defendant.  The underage victim is too terrified to face her attacker.  She played dead in the back of his car in order to survive.  It is always amazing to me some of the strength some people find when their lives are on the line.  This guy is looking at hard time.  However, with a last name like Burpee, I’m sure he’ll find fast friends behind bars.

In a searing closing argument Tuesday, Deputy District Attorney James Leonard told jurors in the Todd Burpee trial they should treat the evidence against him as they would evidence in a murder trial.

Don't look so frightened, Todd. Some nice man will care for you in prison.

Don't look so frightened, Todd. Some nice man will care for you in prison.

As in a murder case, the victim could not point to her attacker in the courtroom, leaving prosecutors to use circumstantial evidence. In this case, he argued, it was not because the unnamed 18-year-old Palo Alto girl couldn’t recognize Burpee, 22, but because she couldn’t face the man who beat her unconscious, kidnapped her and sexually assaulted her as she came home from Gunn High School on Oct. 30, 2007.

“He killed a piece of her that day,” Leonard said. “He murdered her soul…”

Waitress Shoots Complaining Customer

Friday, May 15th, 2009

I’ve worked in the service industry and there were many, many times where I wanted to kill some as–ole who was running off at the mouth, but I never actually did it.  This waitress did not possess the same sense of restraint.  When a customer complained about the service at a Waffle House and actually threw a waffle at Yakeisha Ward, the irate waitress when to her vehicle, got a gun, and shot at the customer.  She survived and Yakeisha was arrested.

Look at her smug, smiling face.  I have to wonder what manager sat across from her and said, “You’re hired!”  Probably the same schmuck who gave the green light to ‘Lethal Weapon 3.’

Waffle House waitress Yakeisha Ward, pictured, shot a customer who complained about poor service, according to police in Manning, SC.

The aggrieved customer, Crystal Samuel, admitted to throwing a waffle at Ward, but claims the eponymous breakfast staple did not actually hit the waitress.

Ward, 29, allegedly jumped across the counter, went to her van to retrieve a gun and shot the victim in the arm during the fracas…

Man Tries to Run Over Police Officer

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Nothing like getting out of jail and trying to make a name for yourself among your homies by killing a cop.  The douche-bag made a name for himself all right: loser.  He can now go right back where he belongs: prison.

A 29-year-old Salinas parolee was arraigned Monday on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon on a sheriff’s deputy.Raymond Campos is charged with striking deputy Jesse Piñon with his Ford Thunderbird as he backed up in an effort to flee from him and another member of the county’s joint gang task force April 10. Piñon suffered a broken collarbone and a separated shoulder when he reportedly was knocked to the ground by the car’s door and then run over outside an apartment complex on Natividad Road.

A sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury was tacked on to each of Campos’ charges. Prosecutor Emily Flores said enhancements could be added alleging that the assault was on a peace officer and gang-related.

Defense attorney Miguel Hernandez pleaded not guilty on Campos’ behalf. Outside of court he said his client was arrested Thursday in Livermore by the U.S. Marshall’s Office. He said he had already told Salinas police he was arranging for Campos to turn himself in at that time…
