What is the problem.  How is it someone who kidnapped and beat a woman earlier this month is allowed back on the streets.  I am constantly amazed that this sort of thing can happen.  Who is in charge of criminal prosecutions in Cincinnati?  Maybe you should think of quitting and trying another profession, maybe an usher at a theater.  That way, when you let somebody out, people don’t have to be shot.

Aaron was given one too many chances.

A Cincinnati man accused of abducting and beating his ex-girlfriend earlier this month is now accused of shooting her Monday afternoon.

Police said Aaron Nelson, 22, was charged with abduction on June 6. He was accused of forcing Lawanda Newell into a van, hitting her and threatening to kill her.

On Monday, police said, Nelson confronted Newell outside a gas station in Walnut Hills and shot her in the back.

Nelson also shot Newell’s companion, William Newell, in the right side, police said.

Their conditions have not been released, but both were conscious and talking when they were taken to University Hospital…

The implications of this crime are huge: the perp is a muslim convert who murdered a U.S. soldier during a time of war.  This was not two soldiers fighting each other but a cold-blooded murder of an unarmed man.  I don’t know if the government will bring federal charges on top of the state’s capital charges, but there is a very good chance this guy will be meeting Allah very, very soon.

Muhammad will never see the light of day again.

A convert to Islam accused of having “political and religious motives” in a deadly Arkansas military center shooting pleaded not guilty to capital murder Tuesday and was ordered held without bond.

One soldier died and another was wounded in what police say was a targeted attack by Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23, on U.S. forces.

Muhammad, an American citizen who is a convert to Islam and previously was known as Carlos Bledsoe, already had been under investigation by the FBI at the time of the shootings.

Muhammad was charged in Monday’s death of Pvt. William Long, 23, outside the Army-Navy Career Center, which handles recruiting, in Little Rock…

Orlando radio personality Edward Shannon Burke of Real Radio 104.1 is behind bars this morning, accused of firing a shot inside his Altamonte Springs area home that injured a family dog and then grazed his wife in the head.

Burke, 43, faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and animal cruelty. He is being held without bail in the Seminole County Jail.

He told deputies he became angry with the pet late Thursday and was waving a firearm that he thought was not loaded, Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kim Cannaday said.

“I need an ambulance right way,” Burke said in a recording of his 911 call, released today. “I was playing with a gun I didn’t know was loaded. It went off and I’ve hit my wife.”

The bullet passed through the dog’s leg and then grazed his 48-year-old wife Catherine, she said.

Catherine Burke was taken to Orlando Regional Hospital. The dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was taken to an emergency vet clinic…

A manhunt is under way for an Akron man accused of shooting a woman outside her apartment in Cuyahoga Falls.

Cuyahoga Falls Police say 52-year-old Dennis Burley is wanted on a charge of attempted murder. Investigators say Burley allegedly shot the 28-year-old woman in the chest after she and a male acquaintance emerged from her apartment on Cliffside Drive.

The victim was taken to Akron City Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition. According to acquaintance who called 9-1-1, Burley had dated the victim in the past. Dennis Burley is described as six feet, 240 pounds with brown hair, green eyes and a beard and mustache. He is known to drive a silver 2005 Dodge Ram pick-up truck with Ohio plates, EDK-5767…

The pastor of a Maryville, Illinois, church was shot to death during a service Sunday in front of horrified parishioners who then tackled the gunman, state police said.

Police say the attacker walked into First Baptist Church of Maryville on Sunday and began firing.

Fred Winters, the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Maryville, was shot and killed during the 8 a.m. service, and the attacker and two parishioners suffered knife wounds in the attack, said Illinois state police spokesman Ralph Timmins.

The gunman walked in during the service and walked up to the pulpit, opening fire when he was met by Winters, Timmins said. A police dispatcher in Maryville, about 10 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri, told CNN the pastor was shot three times.

Timmins said the gunman’s .45-caliber pistol jammed after he shot Winters. The shooter then pulled out a knife and turned it on himself before being tackled by some of the roughly 150 worshippers attending the church.

Two of those who went after the attacker suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the suspect’s injuries are “very serious,” Timmins said.

Witness Claudia Bohley told CNN affiliate KSDK she was in the church’s foyer waiting for the service to begin when she heard “pop, pop, pop. … We just couldn’t imagine what had happened.”

She said she ran into the sanctuary and saw what looked like paper scattered on the pulpit. She said she was later told that the bullet hit Winters’ Bible.

“It was like confetti. It went everywhere,” she said. “People were down on their knees and on the floor, screaming and praying.”

She described Winters — who is pictured on the church’s Web site along with his wife and two children — as “such a pleasant pastor.”

St. Louis University Hospital spokeswoman Laura Keller told CNN three males, including the suspect, were brought to the hospital. One was dead on arrival, she said, but the hospital was not releasing names and ages. She said the second was in an operating room and the third was the suspect, whose condition was not immediately available…
